Photo of The Cascade Pego do Inferno is a cascading stream of Asseca in the Algarve in St. Stephen, in the municipality of Tavira not far from the village of Querença the municipality of Loulé.
This cascade, one of the most curious of Portugal, the waterfall is not very high, around three meters, leads to a pond of olive green tones. Mediterranean and warm color that comes from the depth of its waters and the color of the land and vegetation where it belongs.
About this cascade and its lagoon include legends and greatly increase the depth of the pond which was certified after measurements in about seven meters.
There are some legends associated with this place. The most popular and which gives the name of Hell I take the site is the wagon that crashed in the catch. The bodies and the cart were never found which led to the belief that the fund would not have caught and he fell there would give directly to Hell. But there are those who said that the bodies and some wreckage of the cart were found a few days after the sea which means that many still believe in the existence of tunnels between the catch and Tavira and Guadiana rivers.
