GEOLOGY HYDROLOGY AND CLIMATE of Natural Park of Ria Formosa situated in Algarve, Portugal

The Natural Park of Ria Formosa is characterized by the presence of coastal marine anamorphic (beaches, coastal barrier or vacation, coastal salt marsh), coastal anamorphic wind (dunes) and anamorphic coastal waterways

The Ria Formosa facing north with the old alluvial plain of Faro and Loulé, and Plio-Pleistocene formations (sands and sandstones), Tertiary (sandstones and limestones) and Jurassic (limestone). Further north is part of the formation of the schist of Sierra Cauldron

  Located in Querença, the Water Source "Fonte Filipe dating from the twelfth century and at the time was called Source Filipa because, they say the oldest was a woman named Philippa who lost their lives there.

The Fountain was rebuilt in 1945, with two arches and five gutters. Today it is used for various recreational activities and the celebration of May 1.

The Algarve is one of the most important tourist regions of Portugal and Europe.
